Dianne Domey- Potter
Dianne Domey of Ruby Dragon Pottery, Ladysmith, BC
I have been concerned about my identity as a ceramic artist, but later realized I had it the wrong way around; I am partly defined, as a person, by my love of working with clay.
When I can commune with the wonders of nature, delightful people, and the welcoming medium of clay, I am transported to a comforting place within my center. It is then that I am freed from the artificial expectations of the modern world and I regain the sense that I belong and have a purpose. The ceramic forms I create are tangible proof of a moment frozen in time when I felt this connection, and stand as a critical reminder for me that it is always possible to feel this way again.
I will grow more bold in my expressions of nature, without a care of what happens next. I will always take pleasure in the discoveries that emerge as I tend my clay.
